Russian Troops Tried to Reach Ukrainian Logistics Routes—Assault Units Pushed Them Back Near Dobropillia

Ukraine’s Defense Forces pushed Russian troops back near Hruzke and Novomykolaivka in the Dobropillia sector during a coordinated operation involving several Ukrainian units, the 425th Skelia Separate Assault Brigade reported on October 6, releasing footage of the operation.
The operation involved units of the 425th Skelia Separate Assault Brigade and the 1st Azov Corps of Ukraine’s National Guard.

The forces participating in the operation included the Shkval Battalion of the 425th Brigade, the 1st and 6th battalions of the 12th Azov Special Forces Brigade, as well as the Ultima Ratio and Tuman units. Personnel from the National Guard’s Lasar’s Group provided fire and other support.
According to the 425th Brigade, Russian forces had been concentrating troops in the area in an attempt to reach Ukrainian logistics routes, create conditions for the encirclement of Druzhkivka, and continue advancing toward Dobropillia.
During the operation, Ukrainian assault groups cleared dozens of Russian positions near Hruzke and Novomykolaivka. The Brigade said fighters from its Shkval Battalion killed more than 40 Russian troops in small-arms engagements.
The 425th Brigade said the coordinated operation inflicted losses on Russian units and disrupted their plans for further advances toward Dobropillia.

Ukrainian forces cleared three Russian infiltration groups from roughly 10 square kilometers of territory east of Vovchansk in the Kharkiv region, the Institute for the Study of War (ISW) reported on October 5. According to ISW, a Ukrainian brigade released footage documenting operations in a forested area northeast of Vovchanski Khutory.
The brigade said Ukrainian troops had regained approximately 10 square kilometers of the area since June 10, 2026. ISW noted, however, that Russian forces had infiltrated other nearby areas and likely made advances in northeastern Vovchansk, north of Vovchanski Khutory, and north of Zybyne.
