Russian Volunteers Hunt Putin’s Forces With Ukrainian Drones, Video

Drone operators from the Russian Volunteer Corps (RVC), fighting alongside Ukraine, carried out a months-long campaign against Russian positions, logistics routes, communications infrastructure, and military vehicles in the Zaporizhzhia direction, Ukraine’s Defense Intelligence (HUR) reported on August 15.

HUR released archival combat footage covering operations conducted between winter and summer 2026 by RVC reconnaissance and strike-drone teams operating as part of HUR’s Timur Special Unit.

According to Ukrainian military intelligence, the drone crews worked in support of Ukrainian assault units, locating Russian positions and providing targeting information while also conducting strikes of their own.

During the operations, RVC teams targeted Russian infantry and reconnaissance drones, as well as infrastructure used to sustain forces near the front. HUR said the targets included logistics routes, communications nodes, command posts, shelters and dugouts.

The released footage also shows strikes against Russian passenger vehicles and military trucks used behind the front line.

HUR said the sustained drone operations disrupted Russia’s ability to maintain positions and conduct troop rotations in the Zaporizhzhia direction. The intelligence agency did not provide a total number of Russian personnel or pieces of equipment lost during the campaign.

The Russian Volunteer Corps is composed primarily of Russian nationals fighting against Moscow’s forces on Ukraine’s side. Its units have previously participated in combat and cross-border operations against Russian forces and operate in coordination with Ukraine’s military intelligence.

Earlier, on August 12, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said Ukrainian forces had liberated 745 square kilometers and retaken 26 settlements across the Dnipropetrovsk, Donetsk, and Zaporizhzhia regions during an eight-month offensive in the Oleksandrivka direction.
