Ukrainian forces have restored control over nearly the entire Dnipropetrovsk region, with only the area around the settlement of Dachne still under Russian occupation as fighting continues, Suspilne reported on August 17, citing sources in Ukraine’s General Staff.

Ukrainian troops are continuing operations aimed at pushing Russian forces out of the remaining occupied territory and restoring full control of the region.

“Control over the Dnipropetrovsk region has not yet been fully restored. At present, the area around the settlement of Dachne remains under occupation. Fighting continues,” a General Staff source told journalists.

The development comes amid an ongoing Ukrainian offensive in the Oleksandrivka sector, which began in January 2026.

Since the operation started, Ukrainian forces have liberated 26 settlements across the Donetsk, Dnipropetrovsk, and Zaporizhzhia regions, according to the General Staff source.

The latest battlefield situation leaves Dachne as Russia’s only remaining reported foothold in the Dnipropetrovsk region, while Ukrainian forces continue fighting to remove Russian troops from the area and restore full control over the region.

Earlier, reports emerged that Russian forces continued offensive operations toward Sloviansk on August 1 and 2 but failed to secure any confirmed advances after Ukrainian troops launched successful counterattacks.
