Spain to Send Ukraine €437M Military Aid Package, Zelenskyy Says

Spain will provide Ukraine with a new €437 million ($490 million) military aid package, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said on November 5 after a meeting with Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez.
During their discussion, the two leaders coordinated the details of the defense package to address Ukraine’s most critical defense requirements.

President Zelenskyy also briefed the Spanish Prime Minister on the impact of Russian strikes against essential Ukrainian infrastructure, including energy systems, transportation hubs, and the railway network.
The attacks have caused significant operational losses. According to Zelenskyy, more Ukrainian locomotives have been damaged this year alone than during all previous years of Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine combined.
Zelenskyy said the constant strikes have placed severe strain on energy and water utility services. The situation remains especially challenging in Kyiv, making emergency humanitarian assistance an essential component of international support.

Zelenskyy expressed gratitude to Spain and Prime Minister Sánchez for their ongoing assistance.
On March 18, Sánchez announced a new €1 billion military aid package for Ukraine during a joint press conference with Volodymyr Zelenskyy in Madrid. The two leaders also advanced broader defense cooperation, focusing on joint production projects involving drones, radars, and missile technologies.
Sánchez affirmed that Spain’s commitment to Ukraine would remain steadfast despite competing global crises, while Zelenskyy emphasized that bolstering air defense capabilities and expanding weapons production remained key priorities for protecting Ukrainian civilians and countering Russian aggression.
