Two Dozen Political Centers Targeted in Planned Russian Strikes, Zelenskyy Says

Russia is preparing new combined missile and drone strikes against Ukraine, targeting nearly two dozen political centers and military points, according to intercepted documents obtained by Ukrainian intelligence.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy announced on May 15 the threat following a high-level briefing with the leadership of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, the Chief Directorate of Intelligence, the Foreign Intelligence Service, and the Security Service of Ukraine.

This warning follows a recent massive escalation during Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine on May 13–14, when Russian forces deployed 1,567 drones and 56 missiles, including a overnight attack focused on Kyiv that involved 56 missiles and 675 strike drones.
“The specialists of the Chief Directorate of Intelligence of the Ministry of Defense obtained documents proving that the Russians are preparing new missile and drone strikes on Ukraine, specifically targeting, as they indicate, 'decision-making centers.' Among them are nearly two dozen political centers and military points,” Zelenskyy stated.
The Ukrainian president confirmed that Kyiv has acknowledged this intelligence data. He added that the Ukrainian military is already selecting targets for subsequent long-range sanctions against Russia to counter the ongoing strikes on Ukrainian cities and villages.

“Ukraine will not leave any strike that takes the lives of our people without consequences for the aggressor. We are fully justified in responding against the Russian oil industry, military production, and those individuals who directly commit war crimes against Ukraine and Ukrainians,” Zelenskyy stated.
According to data cited by Defense Express from Ukraine’s military intelligence agency on May 15, Russia rapidly scaled up production of long-range strike drones and aimed to reach a manufacturing pace of roughly 500 UAVs per day by early 2027.
Under these plans, Moscow intended to manufacture a total of 110,000 long-range drones of all types in 2026, which included approximately 60,000 strike drones and another 50,000 decoy UAVs designed to overwhelm Ukrainian air defenses.
This projected output represented a 40% increase in overall long-range drone production compared to 2025, with average daily production rates expected to climb from 142 drones in January 2026 to about 455 drones by December.
