Ukraine Blinds Russian Defenses in Bryansk, Hitting Radar, EW System and MESH Network

Ukrainian forces struck several Russian military systems in Russia’s Bryansk region, including a radar station, an electronic warfare complex, and a relay supporting a MESH communications network.

According to Ukraine’s General Staff on September 5, the strikes were carried out on September 4 and targeted military infrastructure at three separate locations across the region.
A Russian radar station was hit near Kartushino, while an electronic warfare system was targeted in the area of Pogar. Ukrainian forces also struck a MESH network relay in Zlynka, the General Staff said.
The General Staff did not identify the specific models of the radar or electronic warfare systems involved, meaning their exact capabilities and value cannot yet be independently assessed.
Radar stations are used for tasks ranging from airspace surveillance and target detection to supporting air defense and other military operations. Electronic warfare systems can be employed to detect, disrupt, or suppress radio communications, navigation signals, and drone control links.
The MESH relay represents a different part of the communications infrastructure. In a mesh network, individual nodes can relay data between one another rather than relying exclusively on a single central communications point.
Such architecture can extend communications coverage and provide alternative routes for data if individual links are disrupted. The General Staff did not specify which Russian MESH system was targeted or what units it supported.
Ukrainian forces also struck a repair facility used by a Russian military unit in Sokolohirsk in the temporarily occupied Luhansk region.
“The extent of the damage is being clarified. Work on the enemy’s key military targets continues. More to come!” Ukraine’s General Staff said.
Earlier, Ukraine’s Defense Intelligence said its Group 13 unit struck a Russian Bastion coastal missile system in temporarily occupied Crimea, a platform capable of launching both Onyx and Zircon missiles.
