Ukraine Braces for Another Night as Russia Launches Missile Barrage Across Multiple Regions

As of 2:55 a.m., one person had been confirmed killed in the attack, according to the official Telegram channel of the Kyiv City Military Administration.

Russia launched a massive combined missile and drone attack across Ukraine overnight on July 30, with explosions reported in Kyiv, Dnipro, Kharkiv, and Kryvyi Rih, according to Ukrainian monitoring channels and local authorities.

Ukraine’s Air Force warned of a missile heading toward Kyiv at 1:07 a.m., urging residents to seek shelter.

Powerful explosions were also reported in Dnipro, Kharkiv, and Kryvyi Rih as missiles and attack drones targeted several Ukrainian cities.

Kyiv residents sought refuge in metro stations during the attack, gathering on platforms and in underground passageways as explosions echoed across the city.

The independent Russian media outlet ASTRA posted images and videos showing families with children, elderly people, and pets gathered on station platforms, many using blankets, sleeping mats, and inflatable mattresses as they waited out the air raid underground.

Videos circulating on local Telegram channels appeared to capture the moments of the ballistic missile strikes, with fires reported at several locations in the capital.

Kyiv’s Pochaina metro station was reportedly damaged during the attack, according to a local monitoring channel at 1:40 a.m.

Footage posted by local Telegram channels also appeared to show a large fire at the Pochaina Market following the attack. The channels reported that rows of market stalls were burning after an apparent strike.

Shortly after the missile attack, monitoring channels warned that up to five Shahed-type attack drones were also approaching Kyiv from the north after flying south over the northern part of the Kyiv Reservoir.

Kharkiv also came under attack overnight. Mayor Ihor Terekhov reported that a Russian Shahed-type attack drone struck an industrial area in the city’s Novobavarskyi district at around 2:16 a.m.

Emergency services and local authorities had not yet released official information on casualties or the full consequences of the attack at the time of publication.
