The development comes as Russian occupation forces have been instructed to intensify FPV drone attacks against civilian targets in the city of Zaporizhzhia, Ukraine’s Main Intelligence Directorate (HUR) reported.

According to an intelligence assessment, Russian commanders are ordering a significant increase in strikes on civilian infrastructure in the regional centre, including directives to target “any civilian objects” in Zaporizhzhia.

To support the planned escalation, Russian occupation units are being promised additional supplies of FPV strike drones.

HUR said the directive to intensify attacks against civilians reflects growing frustration among Russia’s military leadership over mounting losses and the lack of battlefield progress, including in the Zaporizhzhia direction.

The reported increase in FPV drone deployment orders follows a series of recent strikes on residential areas in Zaporizhzhia, including a Russian drone attack on June 8 that killed two people and injured 24 others.

The strike hit a residential district, with civilians inside their homes among those affected as Russian forces continued targeting populated areas of the city.
