Russia carried out a combined drone and missile assault overnight on September 28, striking Kyiv, the wider Kyiv region, Zaporizhzhia, and Sumy. The attacks caused multiple civilian casualties, damaged residential areas, and triggered emergency responses across Ukraine.

According to the Kyiv City Military Administration, at least four people were killed in the capital, including a 12-year-old girl, and more than a dozen others were injured.

Mayor Vitali Klitschko confirmed that debris and strikes were recorded in several districts, while the State Emergency Service of Ukraine reported fires and building collapses.

Residential buildings and vehicles were damaged, and the Institute of Cardiology sustained a direct hit, where two people were confirmed killed.

A five-story residential building in the Solomianskyi district also partially collapsed, and separate fires were reported at a fuel station and non-residential structures.

Regional authorities also reported extensive damage beyond the capital. According to Mykola Kalashnyk, head of the Kyiv Regional Administration, twenty-seven people were injured across Kyiv region.
