Massive Energy Infrastructure Attack Leaves Parts of Kharkiv Without Power and Transport

On the night of September 24, Kharkiv came under a massive strike drone attack, with 18 drones launched at the city and the main strike hitting an energy infrastructure facility.
The attack caused power outages and disrupted public electric transport.
“Residential buildings, shops, and several cars were damaged. Fortunately, there are no casualties among Kharkiv residents,” Kharkiv Mayor Ihor Terekhov reported.
He added that specialists from Kharkivoblenergo and municipal services are working to restore electricity. Water supply has been largely maintained, though hot water shortages may occur in some areas due to power cuts.

The attack on an energy facility also disrupted surface electric transport in the Kholodnohirskyi and Shevchenkivskyi districts, but replacement buses have already been deployed to cover affected routes.
Meanwhile, Ukraine’s State Emergency Service (SES) reported multiple fires caused by the strikes in Kharkiv’s Kholodnohirskyi district, where a shop building, an outbuilding, and private houses caught fire. Several cars were also damaged, and one person was injured.
In the Chuhuiv district, Kharkiv region, a residential house and outbuildings in the village of Buhaivka were set ablaze. In the city of Chuhuiv, a house, a garage, and several cars were destroyed by fire. Another civilian was injured.
Emergency workers and SES equipment were deployed to eliminate the consequences of the attack.
Earlier, Russian forces struck a civilian educational facility in Kharkiv, damaging the roof and sparking a fire. Four people were injured in the attack, including three women aged 51, 52, and 54, and an 89-year-old man.
