Ukraine Flies 4 Tons of Food by Drone Into Occupied Oleshky, Reaching 100 Locations

Ukraine is using drones to move humanitarian supplies across the Dnipro River into temporarily occupied Oleshky, where conventional aid deliveries remain severely restricted.
Ukrainian forces have delivered approximately four tons of food by drone to civilians in the temporarily occupied city of Oleshky in the Kherson region, distributing supplies across 100 locations as conventional humanitarian access remains restricted.

According to Kherson Regional Governor Oleksandr Prokudin on September 27, Ukrainian units have been transporting food across the Dnipro River by unmanned aerial vehicles since March.

One of the largest such operations was carried out recently with the participation of Ukraine’s 30th Marine Corps, the Hrim tactical group, the 34th Borysfen Marine Brigade, the Bolharychi unit of the 11th National Guard Brigade, the 34th National Guard Regiment, and the 79th Border Guard Detachment.
The units delivered around 4,000 kilograms of food to 100 designated locations across Oleshky, Prokudin said.
He also said Russian forces have attempted to disrupt the deliveries by shooting down drones carrying humanitarian supplies and confiscating or reselling food intended for local residents. According to Prokudin, residents have also faced detention and physical abuse for receiving the packages.
Oleshky, located on the temporarily occupied left bank of the Dnipro River, has faced worsening shortages of food, medicine, electricity, and transportation.
Regular food deliveries to the area stopped at the end of May 2026. More than 6,000 civilians, including approximately 200 children, may remain in Oleshky and nearby settlements close to the front line.
The drone deliveries come as Russia continues to deny humanitarian organizations, including the United Nations, safe access to temporarily occupied Oleshky. The city has been largely cut off from regular food supplies, medicine, electricity, and transport, while evacuation efforts remain stalled due to the lack of security guarantees from Russia.
