Ukraine Hits Russian Drone Launcher and Attack UAV Storage Facility in Oryol

Ukrainian forces struck a Russian facility used to store and launch attack drones in Oryol, Russia, overnight on August 30, according to the Supernova monitoring channel on August 31.

The facility, identified as the Tsymbulova “droneport,” was among several sites linked to the storage and launch of Russian attack UAVs targeted during the overnight operation.

According to available information cited by Supernova, the strike hit one of the facility’s drone launchers as well as an area used to store attack UAVs.

The full extent of the damage and any additional consequences of the strike are still being assessed, the monitoring channel reported.

Located near the village of Tsymbulova in Russia’s Oryol region, approximately 175–180 kilometers from the Ukrainian border, the facility has recently undergone a significant expansion aimed at supporting Russia’s growing use of jet-powered attack drones.

Russian forces have deployed 16 launchers at the site, while more than 100 UAVs have also been observed stored in the open. Satellite imagery published by the Ukrainian monitoring channel Strategic Aviation on August 15 showed that the newly completed infrastructure includes 10 launchers designed for Geran-5 drones and six for Geran-4 UAVs.

According to the monitoring group, the new launch infrastructure was completed in approximately one month.

The expansion of the Tsymbulova facility comes as Russia continues to scale up the production and deployment of its newer attack drone variants. Russia’s defense industry is producing around 3,000 Geran-4 and Geran-5 drones per month.
