According to the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine on May 2, the operation was conducted as part of efforts to reduce Russia’s offensive capabilities. “In particular, the location of a tactical group of Iskander operational-tactical missile systems (Druzhne, temporarily occupied Autonomous Republic of Crimea) was struck,” the statement said.

The General Staff reported that Ukrainian forces also targeted Russian radar systems in Crimea, including the coastal radar station “MIS-M1” near the village of Mayak and the 48Ya6-K1 “Podlyot” radar near Yevpatoria.

Additional strikes were carried out against three UAV command posts in the village of Heorhiivka and a drone storage facility in Novopetrykivka in the temporarily occupied Donetsk region.

Beyond Crimea and Donetsk region, Ukrainian forces hit a Russian repair unit near Kadiivka in the temporarily occupied Luhansk region, as well as an ammunition depot near Ivanivka in the Kherson region, according to the General Staff. The extent of the damage remains under assessment.

According to the General Staff, earlier strikes have already resulted in confirmed destruction of an ammunition depot at the Kacha airfield in occupied Crimea on April 29.

“In addition, Ukrainian Defense Forces will continue to systematically strike critical enemy targets until the complete cessation of the Russian Federation’s armed aggression against Ukraine,” the General Staff said.

Earlier, Ukrainian forces conducted a wave of strikes on April 28–29 targeting Russian air defense systems, an oil depot, and ammunition storage sites, including at the Kacha airfield in temporarily occupied Crimea. The operation also focused on disrupting Russia’s drone warfare capabilities, with UAV command posts and maintenance facilities hit across multiple locations in southern Ukraine and Russia’s Kursk region.
