According to the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine on October 17, the strikes targeted infrastructure used by Russian forces to transport military supplies, store equipment, and coordinate drone operations.
One of the targets was a railway bridge spanning the Unecha River near Sloboda-Seletskaya in Russia’s Bryansk region. Ukrainian military officials confirmed that the bridge had been hit but did not specify the extent of the damage.
The railway crossing is part of the transport infrastructure that can be used to move military cargo. Disrupting such routes could complicate Russian efforts to deliver ammunition, fuel, and military equipment to its forces operating in Ukraine.
Separately, Ukrainian forces struck Russian military supply depots in three locations across temporarily occupied Donetsk region.

The General Staff identified the areas near Novoandriivka, Nikolske, and Mariupol as the locations of the attacks. The facilities were reportedly used to store logistical supplies supporting Russian military operations.
Another strike targeted a Russian unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) command post near Malynivka in Donetsk region. The Ukrainian military did not disclose the type of weapons used or provide an assessment of Russian equipment losses.
Earlier, on October 16, Ukrainian forces targeted a second Russian Mi-28NM attack helicopter in less than a week using a domestically produced VB140 Flamingo interceptor drone over Russia’s Belgorod region. Footage released by Ukraine’s 115th Separate Mechanized Brigade showed the drone approaching the helicopter, although the extent of any damage remains unconfirmed.
