Ukraine Hits Wildberries Again—This Time Taking the Fight Into Cyberspace

Ukrainian cyber specialists disrupted the digital infrastructure of Russian e-commerce giant Wildberries, affecting payment systems and customer services days after Ukrainian forces struck several of the company’s logistics facilities across Russia.

Ukraine’s Defense Intelligence (HUR) reported on August 15 that specialists from the Cyber Corps community carried out the cyber operation on August 10–11, targeting systems used by one of Russia’s largest online marketplaces.

According to HUR, the attack disrupted Wildberries’ main remote customer-service channel and partially destabilized its payment infrastructure. The resulting increase in requests also placed additional pressure on the company’s contact centers.

Users reported problems completing financial transactions during the disruptions, Ukrainian intelligence said. HUR did not disclose the technical methods used in the operation or provide an independent estimate of the financial damage caused.

Ukraine’s Strikes Wipe Out Wildberries’ Major Warehouses as Losses Near $12 Billion

The cyberattack followed a series of Ukrainian strikes against Wildberries logistics infrastructure inside Russia. Ukrainian intelligence described the digital operation as complementary to those attacks, targeting the company’s online operations alongside physical disruptions to its distribution network.

“The cyber operation amplified the effect of the Ukrainian Defense Forces’ kinetic attacks on Wildberries warehouses, causing another round of significant losses for the company that fuels Russia’s economy and, consequently, its criminal war against Ukraine,” HUR said.

Wildberries has become a recurring target of Ukrainian strikes, with at least 20 warehouses attacked since July 18. The campaign reportedly eliminated roughly one-third of the company’s storage capacity, with total losses estimated at up to 1 trillion rubles ($11.9 billion). The latest cyber operation expanded the pressure to Wildberries’ payment and customer-service infrastructure.
