According to Ukraine’s Unmanned Systems Forces (SBS) on June 6, the operation targeted the temporary deployment site of Russia’s 90th Separate Engineer-Sapper Regiment of the 51st Army near the occupied settlement of Pionerske.

Ukrainian forces also reported strikes on Russian military logistics infrastructure, a truck staging area, and a gas storage facility used to support Russian troops in the region.

According to SBS, the strike on the engineering regiment was carried out by operators from the 9th Battalion “Kairos” of the 414th Brigade “Birds of Magyar,” the 1st Separate Center, the 412th Nemesis Brigade, and the 413th Raid Regiment.

The Ukrainian military stated that the regiment had participated in constructing and mining sections of the “Surovikin Line” on the southern front, including in the Kherson and Zaporizhzhia regions.

SBS also said the unit had conducted engineering operations on the Bakhmut and Avdiivka axes and was involved in training military engineering specialists.

Separately, operators from the K-2 Brigade struck a parking area used by Russian military trucks in Donetsk region. The same unit also targeted a gas storage facility that, according to SBS, was being used to support Russian military operations. Additional logistics facilities were reportedly hit by operators from the 13th Detachment of the 414th Brigade “Birds of Magyar.”

Commenting on the operation, SBS Commander Robert Brovdi, known by the callsign “Magyar,” said the targeted regiment was involved in developing and introducing new types of ammunition for the Russian military in addition to its engineering tasks.

“In addition to combat missions, the unit trains military engineering specialists and develops and introduces new advanced munitions. We are tracking you down and studying you carefully, you exotic worms,” Brovdi wrote.

The “Surovikin Line” refers to a network of defensive positions, trenches, minefields, and anti-tank obstacles constructed by Russian forces across occupied territories and border areas following Ukraine’s successful counteroffensives in 2022. The fortifications became one of Russia’s primary defensive systems on the southern front.

Earlier, Ukrainian Defense Minister Mykhailo Fedorov said Ukraine doubled the number of strikes against Russian targets located more than 50 kilometers behind the front line in May as part of the “Logistic Lockdown” campaign.

According to Fedorov, the operation contributed to more than 31,500 Russian casualties during the month and increased pressure on Russian transport, supply, and logistics networks.
