Ukraine Doubles Attacks on Russian Targets 50+ Kilometers Behind Front Line in Successful May Campaign

Ukraine’s Defense Forces doubled the number of strikes against Russian targets located more than 50 kilometers behind the front line in May, as Kyiv expanded its campaign against military logistics, transport networks, and supply infrastructure.

According to Ukrainian Defense Minister Mykhailo Fedorov on June 5, the increase is part of Ukraine’s broader “Logistic Lockdown” effort aimed at disrupting Russian military operations at operational depth.
31,500+ invaders neutralized, logistics paralyzed, and record-breaking air defense results. May was a month of massive scaling for our e-Points system. We’re using real-time data to exhaust the enemy, protect our sky, and roboticize the front line. The mission continues. pic.twitter.com/Gbn20MiW5W

In a statement published on June 5, the minister said: “Logistic Lockdown is working. On the President’s instruction, we are scaling up strikes against targets at distances of 20–150 km. The number of enemy targets hit more than 50 km from the line of combat contact has doubled. We also have record indicators in the destruction of enemy vehicles and motorcycles.”
Fedorov said Ukrainian forces either killed or seriously wounded 31,530 Russian servicemen during May, with losses verified through Ukraine’s e-Baly battlefield assessment system. He also reported record results in countering Russian long-range drone attacks.
According to the minister, Russia launched more than 10,000 Shahed-type attack drones during the month—approximately 25% more than in April—while the number of intercepted drones increased by 50%.

The minister added that Ukrainian troops carried out more than 14,000 logistics and casualty evacuation missions using unmanned ground vehicles in May, averaging 455 missions per day. According to Fedorov, the missions allowed robotic systems to perform tasks that would otherwise expose personnel to danger.
Ukraine has increasingly targeted Russian logistics routes in temporarily occupied parts of southern and eastern Ukraine in recent weeks. Drone strikes have been reported against transport infrastructure, fuel supply networks, and military vehicles in occupied Donetsk, Zaporizhzhia, and Kherson regions.
Ukrainian units have also demonstrated the ability to strike targets deep behind Russian lines, including supply routes connecting Russia with temporarily occupied Crimea.

The campaign has coincided with the launch of Ukraine’s “Logistic Lockdown” program, announced by Fedorov in late May. Under the initiative, the Ministry of Defense and the General Staff allocated an additional 5 billion hryvnias (approximately $120 million) for the procurement of systems capable of conducting medium-range strikes against Russian logistics targets.
Earlier, Commander of Ukraine’s Unmanned Systems Forces Robert “Madyar” Brovdi reported that Ukrainian drone operators had struck multiple Russian cargo vessels and a tanker in the occupied ports of Mariupol and Berdiansk, as well as in nearby coastal waters, expanding pressure on Russian military logistics beyond the battlefield.
