Fedorov Announces Logistic Lockdown Program of Mid Range Strikes on Russian Rear Logistics

Ukraine is launching a new “Logistic Lockdown” program to expand its middle-strike capabilities and disrupt Russian supply networks in the operational rear, Ukrainian Defense Minister Mykhailo Fedorov announced on May 27.
The initiative aims to reduce Russia’s capacity to conduct frontline infantry assaults by systematically targeting logistics deeper behind the lines of contact.

According to data shared by Fedorov, internal military metrics indicate a direct correlation between rear infrastructure damage and a reduction in Russian offensive operations. Over the past few months, Ukrainian forces have quadrupled strikes on Russian logistics infrastructure, ammunition depots, equipment, and command centers.
The defense program arrives as Russian territorial advances face higher manpower costs. Fedorov noted that Russian forces are sustaining regular monthly casualties exceeding 35,000 personnel killed or severely wounded.
“Ukraine has been gradually regaining the initiative on the battlefield, and the price of advancement for the Russian army continues to rise,” Fedorov stated. “While the enemy lost 67 soldiers for every square kilometer captured in October, that figure rose to 179 soldiers per square kilometer by April.”

Fedorov attributed Ukraine’s technological position to the expansion of medium-range strike capabilities, as well as the ongoing restrictions blocking Russian forces from using the Starlink satellite network.
The procurement strategy is rolling out in two distinct stages to accelerate the deployment of mid-range weaponry before the summer.
In the first phase, the Ministry of Defense and the General Staff allocated 5 billion UAH ($112 million) directly to military units for self-procurement. To bypass standard bureaucratic delays, funds are sent directly to the most active rear-striking brigades using an internal performance-tracking metric called “yeBaly” (e-Points). The first select units have already received capital to begin direct manufacturing purchases.

The second phase involves centralized, open tenders for a large batch of middle-strike platforms. This competitive system is designed to scale production, lower costs, and ensure transparency in government spending. The newly procured middle-strike equipment is expected to become operational along the front line by this summer.
A prominent target of the “Logistic Lockdown” campaign is the temporarily occupied R-280 highway corridor, a vital land route connecting Mariupol to Crimea through Berdyansk and Melitopol. Ukrainian operators were utilizing previously undisclosed, custom-built long-range strike drones to disrupt this primary supply line.
The unit reported that these specialized fixed-wing systems have already destroyed dozens of Russian military trucks and fuel tankers at operational depth. This targeted pressure has reportedly forced occupation administrations to restrict heavy military transit along the highway, rendering Russian attempts to bypass the disruptions via alternative field roads ineffective against continuous drone detection.
