Russian-installed authorities in temporarily occupied Crimea have suspended fuel sales at gas stations across the peninsula following a wave of Ukrainian drone strikes targeting fuel and logistics infrastructure.

Fuel distribution has been restricted to state services responsible for maintaining critical operations and security, according to statements by occupation officials on June 21.

Sergey Aksyonov, the Russian-appointed head of Crimea, announced that fuel sales at filling stations would stop from 09:00 local time for both cash and voucher-based purchases. He said fuel would only be provided to government services that ensure the peninsula’s “vital functions and security.”

The restrictions were introduced as a major fire continued to burn at a fuel terminal in temporarily occupied Kerch following overnight drone attacks. Local monitoring channels reported that smoke from the site was visible across a large area, while satellite-based thermal monitoring indicated multiple active fire hotspots near fuel-handling facilities in the port area.

According to occupation authorities in Russia’s Krasnodar region, ferry traffic across the Kerch Strait was also temporarily suspended on June 21. Truck drivers were advised to use an alternative land route through Russia’s Rostov region and the Russian-occupied territories of southern Ukraine.

Separately, power outages were reported in parts of occupied Crimea. Local electricity provider Krymenergo announced temporary electricity restrictions, while residents reported losing power after explosions were heard overnight.

The latest measures follow months of growing pressure on Russian logistics routes serving Crimea. Fuel shortages were already emerging on the peninsula in recent weeks. In early June, occupation authorities limited gasoline sales to private consumers, allowing purchases of no more than 20 liters of certain fuel grades per day.

Ukrainian officials have repeatedly stated that drone operations are aimed at disrupting Russian military logistics supporting forces in temporarily occupied southern Ukraine and Crimea. Earlier this month, Ukrainian drone units reported strikes against fuel infrastructure, transportation hubs, and military supply routes connected to the peninsula.
