Ukrainian drones have killed or wounded more than 302,000 Russian soldiers since the beginning of 2026—a number equivalent to the personnel strength of a large military force—in less than ten months of fighting, according to Ukraine’s Ministry of Defense on October 27.

The figures highlight the scale of Ukraine’s drone operations, which have inflicted an average of more than 1,000 Russian personnel casualties per day throughout the year.

According to the ministry, every recorded strike was documented on video through Ukraine’s DELTA battlefield management system and verified by the Brave1 defense innovation cluster.

March was the deadliest month for Russian troops targeted by Ukrainian drones, with 33,989 soldiers killed or wounded. April followed closely with 33,961 casualties, while February recorded the lowest figure at 26,204.

The monthly figures show that Ukrainian drone units have consistently inflicted tens of thousands of Russian casualties, with more than 30,000 recorded in January, March, April, May, July, and September combined with other monthly totals.

In September alone, Ukrainian drones killed or wounded 32,739 Russian troops. During the first 25 days of October, another 27,829 Russian personnel were recorded as killed or wounded in drone strikes.

Ukraine’s Defense Ministry said that drone operations play a central role in reducing Russia’s manpower, weakening the combat effectiveness of its military units, and slowing offensive operations.

Earlier, on October 16, the Institute for the Study of War (ISW) reported that Russia had gained a net 144.5 square kilometers of Ukrainian territory between January and September 2026, roughly 45 times less than the 6,500 square kilometers claimed by Vladimir Putin.
