Ukrainian Drone Attack Hits Russian Electronics Plant Supplying Parts for Kh-59 Missiles and Pantsir-S1

A Ukrainian drone attack in Russia’s Ulyanovsk targeted the NPP Zavod Iskra electronics plant, which supplies products to the Russian defense industry, according to an OSINT analysis by independent Russian media outlet ASTRA.

An ASTRA OSINT analyst identified the affected facility as JSC NPP Zavod Iskra in Ulyanovsk. The plant is part of Russia’s Almaz-Antey aerospace and defense corporation.

Ulyanovsk regional Governor Alexey Russkikh confirmed that industrial and civilian infrastructure in the city had been damaged in the drone attack.

According to preliminary information provided by Russkikh, eight people were injured, including seven adults and one child. Five of the adults were reported to be in moderate condition, while the remaining two sustained minor injuries. The child was also described as being in moderate condition.

Founded in 1971, Zavod Iskra is a major Russian electronics manufacturer specializing in the development and serial production of semiconductor devices, microwave components, power electronics, medical products, and LTCC ceramic packages for electronic equipment.

According to Militarnyi, Zavod Iskra is also part of the supply chain for Kh-59M2/M2A guided air-launched missiles. The company provides the Yaroslavl Radio Plant with 3OT127A transistor pairs used to manufacture SB-1AM television transmitters for T1A-02 equipment.

It also supplies diodes used in the TVK-2 television channel of the 72V6 combat vehicle, a component of Russia’s Pantsir-S1 surface-to-air missile and gun system.

The reported strike in Ulyanovsk came as another major Russian industrial facility was targeted by drones. The LUKOIL-Permnefteorgsintez refinery, one of Russia’s largest oil-processing facilities, was also hit in a drone attack on September 25, ASTRA reported, citing an OSINT assessment.

Perm regional Governor Dmitry Makhonin confirmed a drone attack in the region and said emergency services had been deployed to the site.
