Ukrainian Drones Target Two Russian Oil Depots in Rostov and Krasnodar

Ukrainian drones targeted Russia’s Rostov region and Krasnodar region overnight on September 24, with local authorities reporting damage and a fire at facilities linked to oil storage.

In Russia’s Rostov region, debris from a drone damaged administrative buildings at an oil depot in the Kagalnitsky district, Governor Yury Slyusar reported. According to the governor, the incident did not cause a fire, and no casualties were reported.

Slyusar added that drones were also intercepted over Taganrog and the Neklinovsky district.

The Krasnodar region also came under drone attack overnight. The regional operational headquarters reported that falling drone debris sparked a fire at an industrial facility in the Dinskaya district.

According to the monitoring channel Exilenova+, the affected facility was an oil depot in the village of Novotitarovskaya.

Russia’s Defense Ministry claimed that its air defenses intercepted 40 Ukrainian drones overnight across several regions. According to the ministry, drones were downed over the Rostov and Krasnodar regions, as well as the Bryansk, Belgorod, Kursk, and Tver regions and temporarily occupied Crimea.

The latest attacks follow another reported Ukrainian drone operation against Russian oil infrastructure a day earlier. Residents of Ufa, the capital of Russia’s Bashkortostan region, reported multiple explosions on the morning of September 23, according to independent Russian media outlet Astra.

Russian air defenses were reportedly activated against incoming Ukrainian drones amid Ukraine’s continued strikes in response to Russian attacks on its civilian infrastructure. Following the explosions, an Astra OSINT analyst reviewed eyewitness images and geolocated a column of smoke to an area near the Ufa Oil Refinery.
