Moscow Fortifies Power Plants With Concrete After Retaliatory Ukrainian Drone Strike

Russian authorities have begun installing concrete barriers around a thermal power plant in Moscow, apparently seeking to protect the facility from possible drone strikes.

This was reported by Militarnyi on September 23, citing eyewitness footage from Astra recorded at the site.

The fortifications are being installed around the combined heat and power plant 8 (CHPP-8) on Volgogradsky Prospekt. The footage shows concrete-block structures being erected around parts of the energy facility.

Astra indicated that the barriers may later be supplemented with anti-drone nets. The protective structures appear intended to prevent drones from reaching critical equipment or reduce damage from a direct impact.

The measures come as Russian authorities prepare energy infrastructure for possible retaliatory Ukrainian drone attacks during the heating season. The source did not report whether similar concrete fortifications were being installed around other Moscow power plants.

Similar protective measures have also appeared at Russian oil refineries, where anti-drone nets and metal frameworks have been erected around individual installations. These structures are designed to intercept incoming drones before impact or limit damage to refinery equipment.
