Ukrainian Drone Forces Target 38 Energy Sites in Mid-September, Bringing Total to 412

Ukrainian Unmanned Systems Forces (SBS) have targeted 412 energy infrastructure sites in Russian-occupied Ukrainian territories and inside Russia since launching the “Crimean Switch Off” operation in July, SBS Commander Robert “Madyar” Brovdi reported on September 22.
According to Brovdi, Ukrainian drone units carried out the strikes between July 6 and September 22, targeting energy infrastructure supporting Russian operations across temporarily occupied territories and Russia. The campaign comes in response to continued Russian strikes on Ukraine, including attacks on the country’s energy infrastructure.

During the second ten-day period of September alone, USF units successfully targeted another 38 energy facilities. These included 10 sites in temporarily occupied Crimea, nine in the occupied part of Donetsk region, 13 in the occupied part of Luhansk region, four inside Russia, and one each in the Kharkiv and Zaporizhzhia regions.
Among the facilities targeted were several major electrical substations, including the 220-kV Krasnodonska substation near Prokhladne in the Luhansk region and the 220-kV Amvrosiivka substation in the Donetsk region. Other reported targets included 110-kV substations near Kypuche, Selidove, and Bilovodsk.
Inside Russia, Ukrainian drone units targeted the 110-kV Bolshaya Chern and Znamenskaya substations in the Oryol region, as well as other energy infrastructure.
The operation has also focused on gas infrastructure in occupied Crimea. Brovdi reported strikes against gas distribution stations at Orlivka, Bakhchysarai, Bilohirsk, Kyr-Bailar, Kholmivka, Hornostaivka, Klepynine, and Islam-Terek, with the Kholmivka facility targeted more than once.
Other reported targets included the Kreidyanka gas distribution station in Russia, the Rodakove gas distribution station in the occupied Luhansk region, and the Tasunove compressor station in Crimea.
Multiple SBS formations are involved in the operation, including the 414th “Madyar’s Birds,” 412th “Nemesis,” 9th, 20th “K-2,” and 429th “Achilles” Separate Unmanned Systems Brigades, as well as the 413th “Raid” Brigade, 427th “Rarog” Brigade, the USF’s 1st Separate Center, and the Phoenix unit of Ukraine’s State Border Guard Service.
The campaign is part of broader SBS operations targeting Russian infrastructure. On September 22, Brovdi also reported that Ukrainian forces had disabled 300 vessels belonging to Russia’s so-called shadow fleet in the Azov and Black seas over an 11-week period.
The reported strikes were carried out as part of Operation “MoLoChKa,” another SBS campaign that has been underway since July 6.
