Ukrainian FPV Drones Burn $4 Million Russian Artillery System to the Ground, Video

Ukrainian drone operators destroyed a Russian 2S5 Giatsint-S self-propelled artillery system worth more than $4 million using several FPV strike drones, according to footage released by Ukraine’s 33rd Separate Mechanized Brigade on May 6.

The published video shows operators from the brigade’s unmanned systems battalion tracking and striking the Russian artillery platform with a coordinated series of FPV drone attacks.
The brigade sarcastically described the strike as a “gift for Infantry Day,” highlighting the growing imbalance between the cost of traditional heavy weapons and the relatively cheap drones now capable of destroying them.
The 2S5 Giatsint-S is one of the Soviet-designed artillery systems with the longest firing range still actively used by Russian forces. Armed with a 152mm cannon, the system can reportedly engage targets at distances of up to 30 to 40 kilometers, depending on the ammunition used.
Russian forces frequently rely on the Giatsint-S for long-range strikes against Ukrainian positions and frontline cities. Because of its extended range and battlefield value, the system is often deployed deep behind the front line and protected with camouflage and electronic warfare systems.
Earlier, Ukrainian forces destroyed a Russian 2S4 Tyulpan self-propelled heavy mortar near the frontline city of Vovchansk in the Kharkiv region.
