Ukrainian partisan movement ATESH has claimed responsibility for sabotaging a critical electrical substation in Azov, Russia’s Rostov region, disrupting the power supply to a defense manufacturing facility involved in producing guidance systems and other components for Russian missiles.

According to ATESH on October 14, its agents carried out an explosion at a substation supplying electricity to the Azov Optical-Mechanical Plant, a facility that forms part of Russia’s Tactical Missiles Corporation.

The partisan movement said the operation disrupted the plant’s electricity supply, forcing key production workshops to suspend operations and affecting the manufacture of components used in Russian precision-guided weapons.

The Azov Optical-Mechanical Plant reportedly produces several specialized systems for Russia’s missile industry, including the Otblesk navigation lidar and flight automation units for Kh-101 cruise missiles.

The facility also manufactures radar homing heads, onboard thermal imaging equipment, and control systems used in R-37M, Kh-35U, and Kh-59/Kh-69 missiles, as well as ballistic missile systems, according to ATESH. The movement emphasized that these components play a critical role in the production of modern Russian missile systems, making the facility an important part of the country's defense-industrial supply chain.

Following the reported sabotage, the plant lost its stable electricity supply, leaving workshops responsible for assembling complex electronics, optical-mechanical equipment, and missile guidance systems without power.

ATESH claimed that the resulting emergency shutdown interrupted the facility's ongoing production cycle and disrupted deliveries of critical components intended for hundreds of Russian missiles.

In a separate attack overnight on October 14, Ukrainian drones struck a major data center operated by state-owned Sberbank in Balakovo, Saratov region. A nearby transport terminal was also reportedly targeted, while fires were recorded at several locations across the city's industrial district.

Ukrainian defense manufacturer Fire Point confirmed the strike on Sberbank's data center in an October 14 statement, also referencing earlier Ukrainian drone attacks against facilities operated by Russian technology company Yandex.
