Ukraine destroyed three Russian BM-21 Grad multiple rocket launchers, two tanks, several artillery systems, and an armored vehicle across the Lyman, Toretsk, and Dobropillia directions during a week of combat operations, Ukraine’s Phoenix unmanned systems unit reported on October 11.

The unit reported that its drone operators destroyed a Typhoon-VDV protected armored vehicle and a BM-21 Grad system on the Lyman direction while the launcher was moving toward a combat mission.

On the Toretsk direction, Phoenix reported destroying another fully loaded Grad launcher, along with two D-30 howitzers, a Giatsint-B artillery gun, and two tanks.

The unit also stated that Russian infantry attempted to shelter from Ukrainian drones and shoot them down with improvised means, but did not disclose casualty figures.

On the Dobropillia direction, Phoenix operators destroyed a third Grad launcher that Russian forces had attempted to conceal.

The unit also reported detecting Russian troops using so-called anti-thermal camouflage cloaks intended to reduce visibility to thermal imaging systems. Phoenix stated that the camouflage failed to prevent its drones from detecting and striking Russian personnel.

The BM-21 Grad is a Soviet-designed 122 mm multiple launch rocket system used to deliver salvos against area targets. The Typhoon-VDV is a Russian protected armored vehicle developed for airborne forces and designed to transport personnel while providing increased protection against mines and small-arms fire, the unit wrote.

Days earlier, Ukrainian Combat Hawks strike drones destroyed a Russian BM-21 Grad launcher and disabled a 152 mm Msta-B howitzer. The 25th Separate Sicheslav Air Assault Brigade reported that the Grad was destroyed together with its crew and ammunition.
