Ukrainian forces destroyed a Russian TOS-1A “Solntsepyok” heavy flamethrower system, one of the most destructive short-range weapons in Moscow’s arsenal, according to footage released by Ukraine’s 10th Army Corps on May 19.

The video shows troops from the 43rd Brigade locating the Russian system and delivering a precise strike. After impact, the TOS-1A catches fire and burns out in place.

The TOS-1A is a 220mm heavy multiple-launch flamethrower system designed to fire thermobaric rockets. Russian forces use it for high-intensity fire support, particularly during assaults on fortified positions and concentrated targets near the front line.

Thermobaric munitions create powerful high-temperature blast effects, making the system especially dangerous in built-up areas, trench networks, and defensive strongholds.

“Precise work, cold calculation, and the professionalism of our warriors reduce the enemy’s firepower every day,” the Ukrainian military said.

Earlier, the Ukrainian National Guard unit Lasar’s Group destroyed three 2S7 Pion 203mm self-propelled artillery systems and a TOS-1A Solntsepyok heavy flamethrower system during a precision drone operation in the Luhansk direction.
