This marks the first time in Russia’s history that it has lost a 5th-generation fighter jet.

From a Soviet insulation materials factory to a Ukrainian art center for cultural freedom to a notorious Russian torture camp—IZOLYATSIA (ІЗОЛЯЦІЯ in Ukrainian) has seen it all.

While the world’s attention has been focused on F-16 fighter jets, France has given Ukraine something different. By the end of 2024, France will transfer its Mirage 2000-5 fighter jets to Ukraine and will also conduct pilot training.

This week, Ukraine remembered the children killed by Russia since the onset of the full-scale invasion. Hundreds have been killed and thousands kidnapped, their whereabouts unknown.

Ukraine and the UN estimate the damages from Russia’s destruction of the Kakhovka Hydroelectric Power Plant (HPP)—which flooded southern Ukraine—at $14 billion. But this is just what can be calculated; the actual losses are much higher.

Over a dozen Western allies have agreed to allow Ukraine to use their weapons to strike military and strategic positions inside Russian territory. We looked at which Western weapons Ukraine has already used or is authorized to use to strike within Russia.
