Drone Crosses Into Moldova as Russia Attacks Neighboring Ukrainian Odesa Region

An unidentified drone violated Moldova's airspace on the morning of September 17, entering from Ukraine during a mass Russian attack on the Odesa region before leaving two minutes later.
The incursion was reported by the Moldovan outlet NewsMaker on September 17, citing the country's Ministry of Defense.

According to the ministry, the drone flew in from the Odesa region in Ukraine and soon returned to Ukrainian territory. NewsMaker noted that the violation unfolded amid Russia's massed strikes on Ukraine, including on the Odesa region.
At 08:56, the aircraft crossed the state border near the Ukrainian village of Biliaivka and moved toward the Moldovan village of Tudora, the ministry stated. Two minutes later, at 08:58, it exited national airspace near the Moldovan village of Palanca, heading toward Lake Davydov Lyman in Ukraine.
The ministry did not attribute the drone to any operator, identifying only its flight path and direction across the border.

NewsMaker reported that the episode marked the third violation of Moldovan airspace in a matter of days. Such breaches have accompanied repeated Russian aerial assaults on southern Ukraine, with aircraft crossing into Moldova as strikes concentrate on the Odesa region along the shared frontier.
Moldova has witnessed a significant increase in drones straying into its territory over the past few weeks. On August 27, five drones crossed into Moldovan airspace during an overnight Russian assault, the first entering near Biliaivka and tracking toward Palanca in the Ștefan Vodă district before turning back to Ukraine.
Ten days earlier, on August 17, a Russian "Banderol" loitering munition crossed from the Odesa region and crashed near the Moldovan village of Tălmaza, following a separate drone explosion near Krokmaz on August 9 that damaged farm structures.
