Five Drones Breach Moldova’s Airspace as Russia Launches Overnight Attack on Ukraine

Five drones entered Moldova’s airspace without authorization overnight on August 27 following Russian aerial attacks on Ukraine, NewsMaker reported, citing Moldova’s Defense Ministry.

According to the report, the first drone crossed into Moldova from Ukraine at 3:56 a.m. near Biliaivka, flying toward Palanca in the Ștefan Vodă district. The aircraft subsequently left Moldovan airspace and returned toward Ukraine.
A second drone entered from the direction of Starokozache in Ukraine and was detected flying over the Moldovan village of Copceac at 3:59 a.m. It disappeared from monitoring systems at around 4:10 a.m. near Carahasani in the Ștefan Vodă district.
Nine minutes later, a third drone crossed the Moldovan-Ukrainian border and flew along a route toward Palanca, Crocmaz, Olănești, Purcari, and Răscăieți. At 4:24 a.m., the aircraft disappeared from radar near Pervomaisc in Moldova’s Transnistrian region.
A fourth drone entered Moldovan airspace at approximately 4:16 a.m. in the direction of Palanca before turning back toward Ukraine and heading toward the village of Maiaky.
The fifth incursion was recorded later in the morning, at around 5:50 a.m., near the Săiți-Lisne border crossing between Moldova’s Căușeni district and Ukraine. The drone crossed the border area before heading toward Lisne at 6:02 a.m. and leaving Moldovan airspace.
Moldova’s Defense Ministry linked the unauthorized incursions to Russia’s overnight aerial attacks on Ukraine.

Russian forces carried out a large-scale combined missile and drone attack across Ukraine overnight and into the morning of August 27, targeting multiple regions and repeatedly sending UAVs toward Kyiv.
According to Ukraine’s Air Force, Russia launched two Onyx anti-ship missiles from temporarily occupied Crimea, Iskander-M and North Korean-made KN-23 ballistic missiles from Russia’s Bryansk and Kursk regions, as well as 258 drones of various types.
