Poland Warns Russia May Stage False Flag Drone Attack Using Ukrainian UAVs

Polish Foreign Minister Radosław Sikorski has warned that Russia may be preparing a false flag operation using Ukrainian drones against a NATO member or Russia itself to justify possible military escalation.

Speaking during a visit to the United States, Sikorski said Polish authorities believe Moscow could use Ukrainian-made or Ukrainian-attributed drones as part of such a scenario, according to Polsat News on July 15.
“Putin even said something similar about a month ago. He stated: if a NATO member attacks us, we will respond. Therefore, we suspect that he plans to prepare Ukrainian drones and use them to attack a NATO member state or Russia, and then respond to such an attack,” Sikorski said.
According to Polsat News, Sikorski argued that publicly discussing the possibility of such an operation is intended to reduce the likelihood of it taking place. He also drew a historical parallel with Nazi Germany’s 1939 Gleiwitz incident, which Berlin used as a pretext for invading Poland.

“Such regimes always act this way. Let me remind you of the Gleiwitz provocation of 1939, when Abwehr agents disguised as Polish soldiers seized a radio station on the territory of the then-Reich. Our message to Vladimir Putin is: we know what you are planning—don’t do it,” Sikorski said.
The warning follows earlier reports that the United States had informed Poland about the possibility that Russia could attempt a limited armed provocation designed to test NATO's response. The scenarios discussed reportedly included missile strikes, drone attacks, or a cross-border military incident.
