From the US Army to Malaysia: Ukraine’s SKIFTECH Takes Combat Training Tech Global

After being selected as one of 10 companies eligible to compete for US Army simulation-system orders, Ukraine’s SKIFTECH is now expanding into Southeast Asia through a new Malaysian partnership.
Ukrainian MilTech company SKIFTECH is expanding into Southeast Asia after it was selected as one of ten awardees eligible to compete for orders under a US Army contract, signing a new partnership agreement to bring Ukraine’s battlefield-informed military training technology to Malaysia.
SKIFTECH and Malaysian defense company Grayline signed a memorandum of understanding during the Eurosatory 2026 defense exhibition in Paris, outlining plans for long-term cooperation in military training systems, the company reported at the end of June.

The partnership will initially focus on developing, adapting, and supplying modern training solutions for Malaysian service members. The companies also plan to exchange expertise and jointly develop tactical training capabilities for projects in Malaysia and potentially across the wider region.
The agreement follows SKIFTECH’s March 2025 selection as one of ten awardees eligible to compete for orders under a US Army contract supporting fielded tactical engagement simulation systems.

A SKIFTECH representative told UNITED24 Media that Malaysia and Southeast Asia were attractive markets because of the region’s expanding defense, security, and military training sectors.
The company is seeking more than equipment sales, instead working through local partners that understand the requirements of national militaries, security agencies, and regional defense markets.
“Grayline has deep expertise, local contacts, and an understanding of the region’s specific characteristics, while we offer modern Ukrainian technologies for tactical training developed on the basis of Ukraine’s combat experience,” the representative said.

Combining those capabilities could support projects not only in Malaysia but elsewhere in Southeast Asia, the company added.
According to SKIFTECH, the parties reached an agreement quickly because they shared a similar view of how modern military training should evolve and recognized the value of Ukraine’s practical wartime experience.
The company said international interest is particularly strong in its live force-on-force training systems, which use laser simulators, tactical equipment, performance-tracking software, and After Action Review tools to recreate realistic combat scenarios.
Such systems allow infantry units and small tactical groups to train under realistic conditions without the risks and ammunition costs associated with live-fire exercises.

Not just a workshop — a full-cycle system: from 3D printing and electronics to assembly and quality control.
All in-house.
And this is only part of it.

SKIFTECH also sees potential demand for urban combat training, drone warfare simulations, counter-UAS preparation, and systems designed to analyze how personnel perform during exercises.
The first stage of cooperation with Grayline will concentrate on infantry training and modern tactical instruction methods.
Should initial pilot projects prove successful, the partnership could expand into training systems for special operations units, heavy weapons simulators, drone operator preparation, and software for collecting battlefield-style performance data.
“We highly value the trust of our partners and believe that combining Ukrainian combat experience, SKIFTECH technology, and Grayline’s expertise will provide a strong foundation for joint projects and the development of modern military training solutions,” SKIFTECH said.

The company is also expanding its presence in the United States. It recently signed a memorandum of intent with Drone City LLC, a US company working with defense and commercial organizations, to support the promotion and distribution of SKIFTECH training systems in the American market.
Recently, SKIFTECH also unveiled a virtual reality trainer designed to prepare soldiers to shoot down FPV drones, built on lessons drawn from frontline combat experience.
The platform, named “Reflex—Minus Drone,” provides basic training for troops countering one of the most pressing modern battlefield threats: Russian FPV strike drones now widely used against Ukrainian positions.
