100 Days Since Ukraine Accepted US Peace Plan—Russia Still Rejects Ceasefire
Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha speaks at a press conference after his meeting for his Turkish Counterpart Hakan Fidan in Kyiv May 30, 2025.

It has been 100 days since Russia dismissed a US-proposed full ceasefire initiative, and Ukraine’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs is calling on international partners to take decisive action to compel the Kremlin to choose peace.

Ukraine's Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha emphasized that Ukraine had unconditionally accepted the US initiative aimed at ending hostilities, halting the killing, and launching a genuine peace process. He made this statement via X on June 19.

“It has been exactly 100 days since Russia has been rejecting this basic first step toward peace. 100 days of Russian manipulations and missed opportunities to end the war,” Sybiha stated.

He stressed that Ukraine remains committed to achieving a peaceful resolution but noted that Russia continues to ignore diplomatic efforts and chooses war instead.

“Unfortunately, Russia continues to choose war, disregarding US efforts to end the killing,” he wrote.

Sybiha urged Ukraine’s partners to intensify sanctions and bolster military and political support, warning that further delay only emboldens Moscow.

“It is time to act now and force Russia to peace. Peace through strength, increased sanctions, and enhanced capabilities for Ukraine.,” he added.

Earlier, Russian leader Vladimir Putin expressed readiness for peace talks with Ukraine but refuses to recognize President Volodymyr Zelenskyy as a legitimate authority authorized to sign international agreements.
