Over 400 Emergency Workers Conclude 39-Hour Rescue After Deadly Russian Strike in Kyiv

Rescue workers in Kyiv completed search and recovery efforts at the residential building in the Solomianskyi district that was struck during a Russian missile attack on June 17. Emergency services confirmed that 23 bodies were recovered from the rubble of the 9-story building.
In total, 28 people were killed and over 140 injured across the capital in what became one of the deadliest attacks on Kyiv in recent months.

The rescue operation lasted more than 39 hours and involved over 400 personnel from Ukraine’s State Emergency Service, along with specialized equipment, drones, and search dogs. Two people were pulled alive from beneath the debris, and nearly 50 others were safely evacuated from damaged apartments.
Authorities have already received nearly 500 reports of property damage, and engineers are continuing to dismantle dangerous structures on site. Over 220 individuals have received psychological assistance from crisis response teams.
Law enforcement remains present at the location to ensure public safety and support the ongoing recovery.

This latest attack has once again targeted civilian homes in the early hours, prompting Ukrainian officials to condemn it as an act of terror.
Despite the loss and destruction, emergency crews and local communities continue to work together to support survivors and begin the long process of rebuilding.
Previously, it was reported that the US Embassy in Ukraine has condemned the recent “senseless” combined Russian strike on Kyiv.
