Czech Initiative to Deliver 1.8 Million Shells to Ukraine by Year-End

Ukraine expects to receive around 1.8 million artillery shells by the end of the year as part of the Czech ammunition initiative.
The statement was made by Ukraine`s Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha during a joint press conference in Kyiv with his Czech counterpart Jan Lipavský, Ukrinform correspondent reported on August 12.
“Czechia is making practical contributions to our shared security and defense. Thanks to the Czech ammunition initiative launched in 2024, the Armed Forces of Ukraine are to receive about 1.8 million artillery shells by the end of this year,” Sybiha stated.

He emphasized that this is not just assistance, but a vital contribution to Ukraine’s defense.
“Deliveries of ammunition purchased with frozen Russian assets are an example of Czechia’s decisive and bold actions. Thank you. We welcome the continuation of the ammunition initiative,” the Ukrainian foreign minister added.
Earlier, it was reported that German defense company Rheinmetall will integrate the Czech defense industry into the long-term maintenance and servicing of Leopard 2A4 tanks.
Under a new seven-year agreement, Rheinmetall will gradually hand over key technical support functions from the manufacturer to the Czech Army’s logistics units.
