The Czech company LPP Holding has conducted field tests in Ukraine of its MTS family of strike drones, equipped with an artificial intelligence-based guidance and navigation system, the Czech publication E15 reported on May 14.

These drones have been deployed in combat by the Ukrainian Defense Forces for several months.

According to LPP Holding, the drones’ primary advantage lies in their autonomous operation capabilities, allowing them to function without operator intervention, even under intense electronic warfare conditions.

This autonomy is enabled by artificial intelligence that recognizes objects and navigates using map data, eliminating reliance on GPS signals.

The AI system was developed in under a year. The company currently produces approximately 50 drones per month, with plans to increase output.

The MTS series includes three models: the MTS05, a compact tactical drone with a range of several dozen kilometers; the MTS25, a larger drone with an internal combustion engine capable of covering hundreds of kilometers; and the MTS40, the most powerful model capable of carrying a warhead weighing up to 12 kilograms (26.5 pounds).

Czech military interest has grown in Ukrainian drone technology. The Czech Armed Forces, in cooperation with the Czech Ministry of Defense, recently tested the Ukrainian Shark reconnaissance drone under conditions simulating modern warfare, including environments with active electronic jamming of navigation and communications.

Earlier, Ukrainian drone units targeted Russian military assets near Kramatorsk, destroying a high-value R-330Zh “Zhitel” electronic warfare system and a Murom-M surveillance system.
