Daily Update: Russia Loses 1,000 Troops and 114 Artillery Systems in One Day

Russian forces lost approximately 1,000 troops over the last day, according to the morning report from the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine on April 17.
These figures bring the total number of Russian personnel losses to about 1,316,070 since the start of Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine in February 2022.

The intensity of combat remains high, with 132 combat engagements recorded along the front line over the past 24 hours. The Pokrovsk direction saw the most significant pressure, where Ukrainian defenders stopped 32 assault actions.
Intense fighting was also reported in the Kostiantynivka area with 25 attacks, while the enemy launched 10 strikes in the Huliaipole direction.
Throughout the day, Russian forces conducted two missile strikes using 24 missiles and 78 airstrikes involving 235 guided bombs. Additionally, 9,701 drones were utilized against Ukrainian positions and settlements.

Ukrainian forces continued to inflict heavy equipment losses on the occupying troops. Over the reporting period, 114 artillery systems and one multiple launch rocket system were destroyed.
The update also confirmed the loss of four tanks, nine armored fighting vehicles, and two air defense systems. Ukrainian aviation and artillery units successfully targeted a Russian command post and a concentration area for personnel and equipment.
In the air, Ukrainian forces intercepted 12 missiles and downed 2,410 operational-tactical drones. Logistical infrastructure also suffered, with 253 vehicles and fuel tankers and three pieces of special equipment eliminated.
Despite the high volume of attacks across most sectors, no combat engagements were recorded in the Orikhiv direction, and there were no signs of new offensive groups forming in the Volyn or Polissia regions.
