Daily Update: Russia Loses 1,140 Troops, 38 Artillery Systems in One Day

Russian forces have incurred significant losses in the last 24 hours, with 1,140 soldiers either killed or wounded and seven armored combat vehicles destroyed, according to a report from Ukraine’s General Staff on April 22.

According to updated figures, Russia’s total casualties since the beginning of its full-scale invasion on February 24, 2022, have now surpassed 1,321,450 personnel.

The most recent daily update also highlights substantial equipment losses, with one tank, 38 artillery systems and seven armored fighting vehicles destroyed. Ukrainian forces also neutralized 1,026 operational-tactical drones, along with 162 vehicles and fuel tankers during the same timeframe.

The total Russian losses are now recorded at 11,885 tanks, 24,436 armored vehicles, 40,516 artillery systems, 251,489 UAVs, and 90,925 vehicles and fuel tankers.

The number of multiple launch rocket systems remains at 1,749, with aircraft and helicopter losses staying steady at 435 and 350, respectively.

Since the start of the full-scale invasion, Russia has also lost 1,350 air defense systems, and 4,549 cruise missiles.

Ukrainian authorities reported 231 combat engagements along the frontlines within the last 24 hours.

Along with the battlefield losses, Russian forces executed a broad range of strikes targeting both Ukrainian military positions and civilian areas.

In the last 24 hours, Russia conducted 78 airstrikes releasing 287 guided bombs, and deployed 7,067 strike drones. Ukrainian positions and settlements faced a total of 2,810 attacks, including 65 strikes with multiple launch rocket systems.

Earlier, Ukrainian drone operators from the 429th Separate Unmanned Systems Brigade “Achilles” destroyed a Russian BM-21 Grad multiple launch rocket system on the Zaporizhzhia front.

The target was located and neutralized before it could conduct further attacks, demonstrating the increasing efficiency of drone-driven counter-battery operations, according to the brigade.
