Daily Update: Russia Loses 1250 Troops, 12 Artillery Systems, and 400+ Drones in One Day

Russian forces suffered another sharp rise in battlefield losses over the past 24 hours, with 1,250 personnel and 12 artillery systems destroyed, according to Ukraine’s General Staff on February 9.

The General Staff’s latest operational update estimates Russia’s total combat losses since February 24, 2022, at approximately:

  • 1,247,580 troops (+1,250);

  • 11,654 tanks (+3);

  • 24,013 armored fighting vehicles (+3);

  • 37,056 artillery systems (+12);

  • 1,637 multiple-launch rocket systems (no change);

  • 1,295 air-defense systems (no change);

  • 435 aircraft (no change);

  • 347 helicopters (no change);

  • 127,962 operational-tactical drones (+413);

  • 4,270 cruise missiles (+1);

  • 28 ships and boats (no change);

  • 2 submarines (no change);

  • 77,552 vehicles and fuel tankers (+113);

  • 4,069 pieces of special equipment (no change).

Ukrainian officials also reported 312 combat engagements along the front line in the previous day, describing continued defensive resistance paired with sustained Russian losses.

The operational briefing, reflecting the situation as of 8:00 a.m. on February 9, said Russian forces carried out two missile strikes using 11 missiles, alongside 65 airstrikes that dropped 148 guided aerial bombs.

In addition, Moscow deployed 3,960 suicide drones and conducted 2,741 shelling attacks on Ukrainian military positions and populated areas, including 104 strikes from multiple-launch rocket systems, the statement said.

Earlier, Ukraine’s Commander-in-Chief Oleksandr Syrskyi said that Ukrainian forces are increasingly carrying out offensive and counteroffensive operations along the front line, with roughly a quarter of all combat engagements now initiated by Ukrainian units.
