Ukraine Strike Hits Core Facilities Behind Russia’s Oreshnik Missile, General Staff Confirmed

On February 8, Ukrainian Defense Forces confirmed a series of precision strikes on Russian military infrastructure in temporarily occupied Ukrainian territories and within Russia itself, including a UAV control center and a medium-range ballistic missile support facility.
According to an official statement by the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, the strikes were part of an ongoing campaign to weaken Russia’s offensive capabilities.

Key targets struck
Logistics Depot in Zaporizhzhia: In the early hours of February 8, Ukrainian units struck a logistics supply depot belonging to Russian forces near the temporarily occupied settlement of Rozyvka in Zaporizhzhia region.
Troop Concentration in Krasnohirske: On February 7, Ukrainian forces targeted a Russian manpower concentration point near Krasnohirske, also located in temporarily occupied Zaporizhzhia region.
UAV Control Node in Donetsk: A separate strike hit a Russian unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) control center near Novoekonomichne in the temporarily occupied territory of Donetsk region.
Missile Infrastructure in Russia: Ukraine also reported confirmed damage from earlier strikes on Russia’s State Central Inter-Service Training Ground “Kapustin Yar” in Astrakhan Oblast. The damaged facilities include a technical site used for servicing medium-range ballistic missiles, an assembly hall, and a logistics warehouse.
Ukrainian officials noted that assessments of Russian losses and the full extent of damage are still being clarified. However, the strikes are consistent with a broader strategy of systematic disruption of Russian logistics, personnel deployment, and missile launch capabilities.

The Kapustin Yar facility, operated by Russia’s Ministry of Defense, has previously been linked to missile testing and development programs, and is also the site from which Russian forces have launched Oreshnik intermediate-range ballistic missiles at Ukraine, including strikes on Dnipro and Lviv Oblasts in 2024–2026.
Earlier, Ukrainian drones struck a sanctioned facility in Redkino, Tver region, that produced fuel components for Russia’s Kh-55 and Kh-101 cruise missiles. The plant, reportedly hit by the SBU’s Alpha Group, caught fire following the impact, with NASA’s FIRMS platform confirming a blaze at the site.
