‘Danish Model’ Delivered $556 Million to Ukraine Last Year, More Expected in 2025
In 2024, Ukraine received $556 million (€538 million) to bolster its domestic arms manufacturing through the so-called ‘Danish model,’ Minister of Foreign Affairs Andrii Sybiha said in an interview with European Pravda on January 15.
Sybiha revealed that funding for 2025 is expected to significantly surpass last year’s contributions. In addition to Denmark, countries such as Iceland, Lithuania, the Netherlands, Norway, and Sweden have pledged new contributions.
“The Danish model involves partners purchasing weapons from Ukraine’s defense-industrial complex to meet the needs of Ukraine’s Armed Forces,” Sybiha explained.
Ukraine’s defense strategy is also set to benefit from the recent introduction of a ‘Norwegian model’ of cooperation. On January 9, 2025, Defense Minister Rustem Umerov described the new initiative as a complementary framework designed to further enhance Ukraine’s military capabilities alongside the already successful Danish approach.
Earlier, Norway pledged to deliver its largest military aid package in history, with over €2 billion allocated to support Ukraine during 2025.
