Deadly Russian Strike on Odesa Kills Two, Injures 14, Including Children

On the night of June 27–28, Russian forces launched 23 Shahed strike drones at Odesa; air defenses intercepted 22 before one struck a 21-storey residential building, sparking a fire on the seventh to ninth floors and trapping residents.
“Odesa has again been attacked by enemy Shaheds. Residential infrastructure has been damaged. Emergency and communal services are working to eliminate the consequences. There are casualties – they are receiving medical assistance. Psychological support is also being provided to people on site,” acting Mayor Hennadii Trukhanov wrote in a Telegram post.
According to Odesa regional authorities, the impact killed a married couple whose bodies were recovered from the rubble. 14 people were treated for injuries—11 adults and three children; six remain hospitalized, with two adults and one child in serious condition, while the others continue care on an outpatient basis.

Firefighters brought the blaze under control within hours, and power and water supplies have since been restored to most households, while emergency services continue clearing debris and assessing the full extent of the damage.
Earlier, Russia launched a massive drone strike on Odesa, igniting fires across multiple residential buildings, killing one person and injuring at least 14, including three emergency responders.
