Soldiers from the 14th Separate Mechanized Brigade, named after Prince Roman the Great, used a drone to evacuate a cat and a dog from frontline positions.

The animals traveled a distance of 12 kilometers through the air, according to the animal rescue organization UAnimals on April 6.

The drone was originally used to deliver food to soldiers at the front. When the drone returned from the position, it carried the cat and dog as passengers.

The animals were secured in large bags attached to the drone's frame to ensure their safety during the 12-kilometer journey.

UAnimals reported that the animals were moved because the soldier who cared after the cat is currently in the hospital with an injury.

His fellow soldiers decided to rescue his pet and also chose not to leave the dog behind at the position. Both animals successfully completed the flight and are now with the soldiers.

Earlier, fighters from the 429th Separate Unmanned Systems Brigade “Achilles” rescued an owl that had become trapped in an enemy anti-drone net and fiber-optic lines during a combat mission.

The bird was unable to free itself and faced certain death until the Ukrainian servicemembers stopped to carefully disentangle it.

After the rescue, they released the owl back into the wild, noting that even amidst the devastation caused by Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine, they remained committed to kindness and the protection of life.
