Ukrainian Drone Strike Hits Oil Depot in Russia’s Rostov Region
On November 29, a large fire broke out at the “Atlas” oil depot in Russia's Rostov region, with Acting Regional Head Yuri Slyusar reporting that 30 Ukrainian drones had been destroyed in the region.
At 08:35 am on November 29, Advisor to the Mayor of Mariupol Petro Andriushchenko added that at least two fuel tanks had caught fire as a result of the attack, and the fire spread to the territory of the facility’s base.
Meanwhile, Russia's Ministry of Defense stated that, during the night of November 29, about 50 drones attacked territories in 5 Russian regions.
According to the ministry, air defense systems destroyed 47 of these drones: 29 in the Rostov region, 8 over Krasnodar Krai, 3 over Belgorod, Bryansk, and Voronezh regions, and 1 over occupied Crimea.
The Atlas Oil Depot, which is part of Russia’s military-industrial complex, supplies fuel to the Russian army. The facility also plays a key role in logistics and was the site of a military training exercise in 2020, conducted by Russia’s Ministry of Defense and the state reserve agency.
At 11:20 am, The General Staff of the Ukrainian Armed Forces confirmed the strike on the Atlas oil depot in Russia's Rostov region.
On the night of August 28, 2024, a similar attack caused a fire at the facility, specifically in the area of its vertical storage tanks.
