Engine Failure Grounds Azur Air Flight to Vietnam, Third Incident in a Month

A charter flight from Krasnoyarsk, Russia to the Vietnamese island of Phu Quoc was grounded for over 24 hours due to engine issues, marking the third reported incident involving engine malfunction on an aircraft operated by Russian airline Azur Air since January, according to the Krasnoyarsk Transport Prosecutor’s Office.

The delay affected flight ZF 2671, which was scheduled to depart at 4:00 AM local time on February 3.
According to Shot, passengers reported that the aircraft, a Boeing 767, experienced a failure in its left engine. Some travelers reportedly refused to board the plane and demanded cancellation of the flight due to safety concerns.
Azur Air cited “extended technical maintenance” as the reason for the delay, further complicated by extreme winter temperatures in Krasnoyarsk, which dropped as low as –30°C. The company described the issue as a “localized malfunction” but did not provide technical specifics.

The flight, initially expected to resume after repairs by 14:00 local time, was later reassigned to a backup aircraft arriving from Perm. The new departure was rescheduled for 02:30 AM on February 5.
The incident follows two previous engine failures involving Azur Air aircraft in January. On January 23, a Boeing 757 en route from Phuket, Thailand to Barnaul issued a distress signal and made an emergency landing in Lanzhou, China, after one engine reportedly shut down mid-flight.
On January 28, the same aircraft, operating a flight from Nha Trang to Irkutsk, was forced to land in Hanoi following another engine shutdown, Shot reported.
