The European Union imposed new sanctions on nine individuals and six entities linked to Russia's ongoing destabilizing activities on July 15 2025.

These sanctions are aimed at those involved in Russia’s information manipulation, electronic warfare, and other hybrid threats against Ukraine and the EU, says European Council in their press release.

Among those sanctioned is the Russian Television and Radio Broadcasting Network (RTRS), which has been working to replace Ukrainian broadcasting in occupied territories with Russian-approved content. This is part of a broader effort by Russia to align local populations with its policies and delegitimize Ukrainian authority.

RTRS, along with its director and communications infrastructure head, are part of the EU's new sanctions list. The EU also targeted the 841st Separate Electronic Warfare Center and its top staff involved in operations from Russia’s Kaliningrad region.

The center has been linked to significant disruptions of satellite signals in Europe, particularly affecting civil aviation and communications in the Baltic States.

Also included in the sanctions are the BRICS Journalists Association and the Foundation to Battle Injustice, organizations created by Yevgeny Prigozhin, which have been involved in spreading disinformation in France and Ukraine.

The Center for Geopolitical Expertise, led by Aleksandr Dugin, has been responsible for orchestrating propaganda campaigns targeting Western political figures and influencing elections, European Council claims.

Other targets include Yevgeny Shevchenko, a GRU officer, and his web company Tigerweb, which has been disseminating pro-Russian content across several Western countries, including France.

These actions are part of the EU's ongoing efforts to respond to Russia's hybrid warfare tactics, which include cyber-attacks, sabotage, and efforts to undermine democracy.

The sanctions freeze assets and prohibit any financial support to these individuals and entities. Additionally, those sanctioned face travel bans, preventing them from entering or transiting through EU territories.

The EU continues to target those who contribute to Russia’s destabilizing actions, as part of its broader strategy to counter Russia’s aggressive actions and support global security.

Earlier, it was reported that the EU has expanded its sanctions against those undermining Moldova’s sovereignty, adding seven individuals and three entities to its blacklist.
