Finland is preparing a new package of military assistance for Ukraine following discussions between Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy and Finnish President Alexander Stubb at the World Economic Forum in Davos on January 21.

According to the Office of the President of Ukraine, this will mark Finland’s 27th military aid package for Ukraine. During the meeting, the leaders discussed Ukraine’s pressing defense needs to strengthen its capacity to counter Russian missile strikes on cities and critical infrastructure.

Key topics included investment in domestic drone production, modeled on Denmark’s approach, and fostering defense-industrial cooperation. “We will continue supporting Ukraine. There are no questions about this. This is about your independence, sovereignty, and territorial integrity. We admire what you are doing,” President Stubb emphasized.

President Zelenskyy expressed gratitude for Finland’s consistent support, including the most recent 26th package of assistance, which was valued at €25 million. While details of the upcoming aid remain classified, previous packages included critical supplies such as winter gear for Ukrainian forces, which is expected to be delivered in early 2025.

The discussions also highlighted the importance of strengthening sanctions against Russia and ensuring security guarantees for Ukraine.

President Zelenskyy thanked Finland for its sanctions targeting Russia’s shadow fleet and other supportive measures, reiterating that Finland’s efforts significantly contribute to Ukraine’s resilience.

Earlier, Finnish defense company Summa Defence announced plans to establish a drone manufacturing facility in Finland to support Ukraine and European Union needs. Set to launch in the first half of 2025, the facility will focus on mass-producing drones for defense, security, and civilian applications, including aerial, ground, and maritime models.
