Four Greek-Managed Oil Tankers Hit by Drones Near Russia’s Black Sea Terminal

Four Greek-managed oil tankers heading to load Kazakh crude at the Caspian Pipeline Consortium terminal off Russia’s Black Sea coast were hit by drones according to Reuters on January 13.
The tankers were the Delta Harmony, managed by Greece’s Delta Tankers, and the Matilda, managed by Greece’s Thenamaris, along with the Freud, managed by Greece’s TMS, and the Delta Supreme, also managed by Delta Tankers, eight sources told Reuters.

Thenamaris confirmed that the Matilda was struck by two drones while waiting in ballast about 30 miles from the terminal and said there were no injuries; the company said the vessel suffered “minor damage to deck structures,” which it said was repairable.

Two maritime security sources told Reuters a fire broke out on board one tanker and was quickly extinguished.
It was not immediately clear who carried out the attack, and Ukraine did not comment, Reuters said, while CPC declined to comment.
Earlier, it was reported that the Russian tanker Qendil, struck by a Ukrainian drone, lost propulsion and ran aground off the Turkish coast following the attack.
