France to Supply 3 Mirage 2000-5 Fighters to Ukraine by Early 2025, Sources Report
French journalists have unofficially reported that the first batch of Mirage 2000-5 fighter jets, which France intends to supply to Ukraine, will include 3 aircraft.
This was stated by the French outlet La Tribune, citing anonymous sources.
According to available data, the first batch of Mirage for Ukraine will consist of three aircraft and are planned to be delivered "in the first trimester" of 2025 (January-April). By that time, the preparation of the machines and the training of pilots and mechanics should be completed.
The French Defense Minister, Sébastien Lecornu, announced earlier, on October 8, that France will deliver Mirage 2000 fighter jets to Ukraine in the first quarter of 2025, equipped with the latest systems for fighting and protecting against electronic warfare.
The Mirage 2000 is a French fighter jet, similar to the American F-16 in that it’s powered by a single engine, which enhances its maneuverability and simplifies maintenance. However, this also reduces its reliability, meaning if the engine fails, there’s no backup.
Previously, France announced its plans to modify some of the Mirage 2000-5 aircraft that France plans to deliver to Ukraine to equip them with the ability to engage ground targets.
